Silly good fun! But the violence is a bit much...

Bullet Train stars Brad Pitt as a wisecracking assassin who is sent on a mission to obtain a briefcase; only it's not as simple as it seems. The film is shot beautifully and is entertainingly stylish! It's funny, but not hilarious. As for the content, it's not for young teens and DEFINITELY NOT for kids. Violence is the worst offender of the lot; there's a high body count. Gallons of blood are on display with some throat slicing, graphic stabbings, fatal gunshots, and head explosions. One man's head is completely demolished when hit by a train sign, another has a chunk of his face completely removed and it's as violent as it sounds. It's mostly played as comedic, but it is so excessive that it becomes bothersome. Profanity is overshadowed by the foul play, but is still there and is quite rough; most of them come from two characters, the "Twins." F-bombs are casually dropped and it's probably near the three digit count. Other milder terms include d**k, s***, a**hole, and more. Sexual content is brief, but extremely unnecessary; it adds nothing to the story. In the first 10 minutes, two random characters have sex with the man being behind the woman; thankfully graphic nudity is blocked by a window and it lasts two seconds. Other PG-13 scale sex references are said infrequently. There's smoking, a single drug reference, and some alcohol consumption as well. Overall, Bullet Train is a very fun time that more than entertains; although, its last 20 minutes go off the rails and isn't half as fun as the rest of the film. I'd say teens 16 and up, if they're (or you are) fine with the numbing violence and excessive profanity.

Great for adults, leave the kids at home

This movie felt like if Guy Ritchie and Quentin Tarantino teamed up to direct a John Wick movie. As an adult, I really enjoyed it - it’s funny, surprising, and felt very original. I wouldn’t take my tweens to see it though as there is a lot of profanity and graphic violence.

Great movie, but LOTS of blood and gore.

There is a great deal of humor, but parents should know this is in the style of Tarantino or Guy Ritchie. Gratuitous and over-the-top, with body parts and blood spraying and splattering each scene.

Pitt action thriller is a fun but exceedingly violent ride.

Positive Messages: Discussions about possibility of finding peace as the result of a violent situation, although characters are rarely, if ever, successful at this. A discussion about luck (one character is said to have bad luck, another to have good luck) -- and about whether such a thing is real. It could be outlook and attitude instead. But these things aside, the movie is really mostly about adrenaline and carnage.Positive Role Models: While characters are sometimes heroic and are certainly skilled warriors, they are all on the wrong side of the law, killing and causing damage without repercussions.Diverse Representations: Of the four most central characters, two are White men; otherwise, cast is quite diverse, including a clever, fierce woman, a Black man, several Japanese characters, and a Latino character. They're all criminals of a sort, but they're interesting and likable too.Violence & Scariness: Extreme, over-the-top, comic book-style violence. Guns and shooting. Huge blood spurts, lots and lots of blood. Poisoned characters bleed from eye sockets and vomit. Deaths. Exploding gun blows character's face off. Sword fighting; characters are stabbed and sliced open. Meat hook through man's head. Characters slammed into walls, solid objects. Heavy punching and fighting. Hitting with blunt objects. Knives, stabbing, knife throwing. Car crash. Strangling person with plastic bag. Child with bruised, bloody face is in the hospital (he was thrown from a rooftop); child in peril. Taser gun. Character falls onto roof of car. House on fire. Poisonous snake.Sex, Romance and Nudity: Brief but graphic sex scene, viewed through window, shows a woman on all fours and a man thrusting from behind. Another couple kiss while lying in bed.Language: Strong, frequent language includes "f--k," "motherf----r," "s--t," "bulls--t," "c--ksucker," "t-ts," "a--hole," "son of a bitch," "ass," "goddamn," "bastard," "d--k," "pr--k," "damn," "douche bag."Products & Purchases: Corona beer and Fiji Water prominently displayed.Drinking, Drugs & Smoking: Wine at wedding. Sleeping powder in bottle of water. Brief drug-related dialogue.

Graphic Violence in this Enjoyable and Interesting Action Movie.

Story: While I didn’t hold high expectations for this movie when I began watching it, thinking it would be another mindless action movie, I was pleasantly surprised. All the action was linked together and had a reason behind it, which I appreciated. The subtle tones of mystery and trying to piece everything together at the beginning of the movie makes it more than mindless graphic action. Although I did not laugh out loud at this supposed “action-comedy” the comedy aspect kept the movie with a more fun tone rather than a serious and dark atmosphere.Violence: This is what makes the movie NOT suitable for any younger teens or children. Bullet Train has very graphic violence and LOTS of blood and gore. Explosions, stabbing, shooting, strangling, poisoning. Bullet Train does not shy away from showing all of the extremely bloody violence and this is what families need to be aware of before allowing their children to watch the movie.Romance: Yes, this movie has one romantic shot but it is over before you barely have time to process what was going on. To be honest, I don’t know if this was graphic or not because (unless you pause the movie on that shot) you really cannot tell. Yes, this is something parents should be aware of when putting on Bullet Train but it shouldn’t weigh too heavily on the decision whether your child should watch this.Language: Bullet Train does have swearing however, the swearing is not as frequent as many other modern action movies. Many swear words are said including the f and s words.Overall, this is an enjoyable movie but the language, romance and (most of all) violence, make the movie unsuitable for anyone under the age of 15.
